Knox Boxes Available For Livingston County Residents

Residential Knox Boxes are available through the Chillicothe Fire Department for Livingston County residents.  Chillicothe Fire Chief Eric Reeter says this could provide emergency services access that could allow the older residents to stay in their homes longer.

Hangs on the door with a key locked inside, allowing first responders access to the home.

Reeter says responders gain access with the Knox Box on a weekly if not daily basis.

He says the Knox Boxes are available at no charge.

It’s a service that is being provided.

There are 15 Knox Boxes that were received in the latest round of funding from the Livingston County Senior Tax Board, and the department has a few others on hand.  If you are interested in more information or would like to apply to have one installed, contact the Chillicothe Fire Department at 660-646-2139.  Installation takes about 30 seconds.  It simply hangs over your front door.
