Mutual Aid Fire Call To Utica

A mutual aid call to assist the Green Township Fire Department summoned Chillicothe Firefighters to Utica Saturday afternoon.

The call came in at about 1:13 pm, and Chillicothe firefighters arrived in nine minutes at the intersection of Matson and Garrow Streets to find a two-story structure that was fully involved.  Owners said the house was abandoned, and they were burning brush when the wind picked up, causing the house to catch fire.  Chillicothe engine 3 used their deck gun and 4,000 gallons of water to help put out the fire.

The Chillicothe crew was on the scene for about 50 minutes.

No other structures were damaged during the fire.
