National Weather Service Issued Winter Storm Warning

The first major winter storm of the season is expected to hit much of North, West, and Central Missouri this weekend.  The National Weather Service has now issued a WINTER STORM WARNING, effective from 6:00 pm Saturday to 3:00 am Monday.

The Warning indicates we can expect heavy mixed precipitation with a total snow and sleet accumulation of 6-13 inches.  Ice accumulation of near 2/10th of an inch is possible.  Wind gusts can be expected near 35 miles per hour.

The National Weather Service says travel could be difficult to impossible at times during the storm.

If you must travel, check the MoDOT traveler information map for the latest road conditions.  Carry emergency supplies, including an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle.
