NCMC Receives $1.5M Federal TRIO Grant

A federal TRIO Student Support Services grant of just over $1.5 million is awarded to North Central Missouri College to improve college retention and graduation rates among low-income, first-generation students, and students with disabilities.

The TRIO SSS Program empowers students to overcome barriers to success through individualized services, including academic tutoring, financial aid, scholarship guidance, career exploration, personal and academic counseling, and mentoring.

These comprehensive supports make it significantly more likely that students will complete their degree or successfully transfer, with the lowest possible debt.

SSS Program Director Tocarra Williams says “This grant allows North Central Missouri College to continue our commitment to ensuring that all students—regardless of background—can thrive academically and personally.:  She says “Since 2001, Student Support Services at NCMC has helped level the playing field, equipping our students with the tools and confidence to graduate and lead in their communities.”
