Ordinance Prohibits Camping In Public Areas

An ordinance prohibiting camping in public areas of Chillicothe was approved by the Chillicothe City Council.  Chillicothe Police Chief Jon Maples presented the ordinance.  City Attorney Robert Cowherd told the council they would have the ability to allow certain events.

Which is what we have done in the past.

The ordinance would prohibit camping in public places, including camping in your vehicle, storing camping gear, cooking, and sleeping with bedding.

The ordinance was approved on Monday and goes into effect immediately.
