A posting on the Social Media site Snapchat of a potential threat of a school shooting at “CHS.” Was investigated by the Chillicothe Police Department Sunday. Officers were alerted of the threat by a concerned citizen. The posting claimed the shooting would take place today.
Chillicothe Police and School Resource Officer immediately began investigating the threat and found that the threat was actually targeted towards a “CHS” in another state. The post further mentioned a previously canceled football game and an armed individual in the area of their school in the “LVC” area.
Chief Jon Maples says, there is no credible threat against our students at Chillicothe High School or any other facilities or events within the Chillicothe R-II School District.
Maples says to ensure utmost safety, local law enforcement will be conducting additional walkthroughs at Chillicothe Schools on Monday, as usual.
