Repairs to the rail bed for a portion of Chillicothe’s short line railroad will begin soon. The City Council approved the bid from Chief Rail for $38,840. This was the lowest of three bids, with the next lowest nearly $40,000 higher.
The work is to make repairs to the rail bed and replace ties in a 2,000-foot section that was damaged by fire. The area of the work is south of US 36 and east of the railroad bridge nearest the airport.
Work on the project could begin around August 25th and may be completed around September 5th.
