Spring Means MoDOT Construction Zones

Springtime means Road Construction.  As we enter the Road Construction season, we need to consider how we react as drivers.  Missouri Highway Patrol Sergeant Shane Hux says to stay alert when entering a construction zone.

Crews are out there to make the roads safer for all.

Hux says a method of merging traffic into a single lane in the construction zones is called the ZIPPER.

Merging two lanes into one by alternating.

Essentially you are taking turns to move all of the traffic through a narrowed area.  He says it requires some patience and courtesy among the drivers on the road.

Be prepared by checking your route for work zones before you head out on the roads.
