A financial audit of Sullivan County’s 2023 books showed issues in the area of budgetary controls. The audit was conducted by McBride, Lock & Associates on behalf of the Missouri State Auditor’s office.
The Auditors report expenditures exceeded budgeted amounts in the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital and Tax Maintenance Funds.
The Auditors recommended implementing procedures to ensure compliance.
The County’s response indicates they will perform a detailed review of budgetary schedules and actual expenditures in order to ensure budgetary compliance, and amendments to the budget will be prepared and approved by the County Commission.
