Two Cases Moved to Circuit Court, One Person Sentenced

Three recent court cases in the area counties resulted in one sentencing and two being bound over to the higher courts.

A second woman charged with alleged attempting to distribute a controlled substance at a protected facility made a court appearance in Livingston County Associate Court.  Thirty-four-year-old Sarah Nichole Sohaib of Wentzville was in court for her preliminary hearing before Judge Michael Leamer.  She waived her right to a preliminary hearing, and her case was bound over to Circuit court, with arraignment set for February 5th.

A Carrollton man facing charges of two counts of alleged Statutory Sodomy has had his case moved to Carroll County Circuit Court.  Thirty-five-year-old Howard Eugene Hughes, Jr waived his preliminary hearing and his case was bound over.  Arraignment in Circuit Court will be on February 9th.

A Chillicothe man charged with Abuse or neglect of a child, domestic assault, and property damage was sentenced on the property damage charge.  Lance Colton Surber entered a guilty plea on the property damage charge and was sentenced by Judge Michael Leamer to two years of probation.
The prosecuting attorney, Brian Keedy, dismissed the remaining charges.
