Water Outages In Chillicothe Due To Water Main Breaks

Chillicothe Municipal Utilities Water Services Department is repairing four water main breaks this morning.  Department Superintendent Chris Bonderer says they have water outages as they make repairs to the 12-inch mains that broke as a result of a shift in the ground.  As the repairs are being made, additional breaks are also found.

These water outages and water main breaks are generally west of Washington Street, between Ryan and Clay Streets.

Additional outages have been reported on the east side of Washington, and areas south of Webster Street.

They are working to make the repairs as soon as possible.

Once repairs are made and the water service is reconnected, those customers will be on a 24-hour boil advisory.

Water used for cooking and drinking should be boiled for at least three minutes, surfaces that come in contact with food could be sanitized with a solution of the boiled water and a tablespoon of bleach per gallon of water.

Bonderer says Boil Advisory letters will be posted on doors of affected customers, and they will post the results of testing on the doors when those are available.
