The Chillicothe Lady Hornets soccer team at six wins six losses and two draws on the season were taking on the 2-8 Cameron Lady Dragons in an MEC matchup.
The Lady Hornets started off with all the momentum, creating opportunities but it took until 35 minutes into the game when Hayden Hansen passed through ball into the offensive area that got sent right back to her by the Cameron goalkeeper Claire Hovey. Hansen then lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper and into the goal for the first goal of the game to give Chillicothe a 1-0 lead at half.
The Lady Hornets took the 1-0 lead and capitalized in the second half when Hansen sent a free kick rocket of a shot at the top netting for a second goal to give Chillicothe a two nothing lead over Cameron. The Lady Hornets came up clutch with a impressive save by Layla McKinnis late in the game to keep the clean sheet and the Chillicothe Lady Hornets won the game 2-0 over Cameron.
Chillicothe finished with 11 corner kicks to two and 12 shots on goal to two, and a 2-0 victory. Chillicothe is now 7-6-2 on the season and will play Kirksville at home Monday.
