On Friday the Chillicothe Lady Hornets softball teams delivered commanding wins in a doubleheader that showcased stellar pitching, aggressive hitting, and airtight defense.
Game 1: Chillicothe Hornets 3 – 0 Smithville Warriors
In the first game of the Greater Kansas City Tournament the Lady Hornets shut out the Smithville Warriors with a strong 6-inning pitching performance from Landry Marsh. Marsh threw a complete game, allowing only 4 hits, walking none, and striking out 8 batters, earning the win.
Chillicothe’s offense struck in the second, fourth, and sixth innings, tallying 3 runs on 4 hits. Standout offensive contributions came from:

Smithville struggled to gain momentum at the plate, going 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. Despite 4 hits, they stranded runners and struck out 8 times. Pitching was split across three players, with M. Meyer (#30) taking the loss, allowing 2 earned runs in 4 innings.
Game 2: Chillicothe Hornets (Softball) 9 – 1 Oak Park Lady Oakies
In game two, the Chillicothe softball team made quick work of the Oak Park Lady Oakies in a dominant 6-inning victory.
The Hornets exploded early with a 6-run first inning, followed by 2 more in the third and 1 in the fifth. Their offense was relentless, piling up 9 runs on 8 hits, capitalizing on 5 Oak Park errors.

Pitching duties were split between Ali Probasco (#14) and Jordan Foster (#4), who combined for a 2-hitter with just 1 earned run and 5 strikeouts. Probasco earned the win, allowing no runs in 4 innings.
Oak Park’s only run came in the 6th inning off a pair of hits, but it wasn’t nearly enough to overcome the early deficit.
The Lady Hornets softball team outscored opponents 12-1 on the day. Pitching, the team combined for 12 innings, 1 run allowed, and 13 strikeouts, with 0 defensive errors committed across both games. On offense the Lady Hornets connected on 17 total hits and 11 RBIs.
With strong leadership on the mound and at the plate, the Chillicothe Hornets demonstrated why they hope to a force to be reckoned with this season.
