Hornet Cross Country Shines at Excelsior Springs Meet

The Chillicothe Cross Country teams competed at the Excelsior Springs Invitational in beautiful weather on one of the area’s most challenging courses.

The JV boys, competing in the varsity division, turned in an impressive performance—finishing 8th out of 12 schools and posting multiple personal records on the demanding, hilly course. Anthony Eckert placed 24th and Garrett Wheeler finished 33rd, with both runners setting new PRs.

The Middle School Girls team continued its strong season, winning its third straight meet. The team placed four runners in the top 10 and all five in the top 20 out of 62 competitors.

The Hornets will return to action Saturday at Jesse James Park in Kearney, where they’ll look to continue their strong momentum on a flatter course.
