The Chillicothe Hornet boys soccer team hosted Moberly on Tuesday night and showed significant growth and determination despite falling 2-0 to a strong Spartan squad.
Moberly, a well-balanced team known for its consistent strength across the field, found a few quick goals in the first half. However, Chillicothe responded with composure and resilience, keeping play on the attacking half for much of the match and holding the Spartans scoreless in the second half.
Midfielders Coy Jones, Mason Walter, and Landen Longo, along with Isaac Bailey up top, generated several quality scoring opportunities. Wingers Aaron Snider, Josh Ojeaga, and Adrian Trantham contributed both offensively and defensively, winning key 50/50 balls and effectively containing Moberly’s attack on the outside.
The defensive unit of Brennen Fitzpatrick, Jace Collins, Ryan Schuler, and Dustin Citron played all 80 minutes, maintaining strong positioning and drawing multiple offsides calls. Goalkeeper Jesse Hughes anchored the defense, helping secure a second-half shutout.
Although the Hornets came up short on the scoreboard, the team demonstrated poise, toughness, and continued improvement against a talented opponent.
