The Chillicothe Hornets and Lady Hornets had a successful week on the wrestling mat. On Tuesday the teams were on the road at Richmond. The Chillicothe Hornets boys wrestling team beat Carrollton 54-29 and then defeated Richmond narrowly, 37-36. Case Stretch, Tucker Slattery Martin Moore and Bo Smith won their duels against both opponents. The Lady Hornets also won at Richmond, defeating the host team 42-30, had a win over Moberly 30-24 and took down Carrollton 48-18. Riley Jones and Yoo Jung Lee won duels against all three teams, while Sophie Hurtgen, Bailey Bachman, Summer Gatson, Bailey Medlin, Caiden Depee, Ceila Quintero, and Tori Stoner took two out of three.
On Thursday the Hornets and Lady Hornets wrestling team welcomed in Brookfield and Gallatin. The Hornets boys team beat Gallatin 62-17 but lost to Brookfield 39-38. Marshall Boon, Karsin Lent, James Hail, Sam Wiebers, Martin Moore, and Bo Smith had wins against both Bulldogs. Meanwhile the Lady Hornets also beat Gallatin, by a score of 42-40, and fell to Brookfield 58-9. Summer Gatson and Yoo Jung Lee each won both their duels on the night.
The Chillicothe Hornets and Lady Hornets host the big Chillicothe Wrestling Tournament on Saturday with the first matches beginning at 9:30 am at the Chillicothe Middle School Fieldhouse.
