Hornets Dominate the Glass in Victory over South Harrison

The Chillicothe Hornets boys basketball team was looking for their first win of the season as they faced South Harrison in their 2nd game of the Savannah Tournament.

Initially, the Hornets defense was lackluster, allowing 16 first quarter points and falling behind by 11 in the 2nd quarter. Chillicothe tightened up on that end of the floor while controlling the boards on both sides in their comeback attempt. Chillicothe quickly closed the deficit behind steady play at point guard with Turner Jackson, he tied the team high in first half points with 9 and the Hornets held a 25-23 lead at halftime.

In the 2nd half Chillicothe relied on their inside game with forwards Jaishon White and Max Probasco. Both players feasted on the offensive glass, scoring double figures in the game highlighted by 25 from White. The Bulldogs of South Harrison made a push in the 4th quarter to tie the game, but Chillicothe handled pressure late, knocked in free throws and preserved the win 55-50.

Chillicothe is now 1-2 on the season and will wrap up the Savannah Tournament on Thursday at 4:00.
