Hornets Face Tough Test at Winnetonka

The Chillicothe Hornets were on the road at Winnetonka Tuesday night in the first game of the boys basketball season. The Griffons are a strong Class 5 team, with a lot of talent, athleticism, size and experience.

Early on Chillicothe trailed 8-6 in the first quarter when the Hornets star, senior Jaishon White picked up his 2nd foul. Winnetonka proceeded to go on a 20-0 run to open up a 35-9 lead by halftime.

The Griffons inside outside play from guard DJ Coleman and forward Antonio Fowler was too much to overcome, as they each finished with 15 points. White found a rhythm in the 3rd quarter for Chillicothe, leading the way on the night with 12 points. Freshman Turner Jackson was a bright spot, scoring seven while earning the start in his first varsity basketball game.

The Griffons did not let Chillicothe close the gap in the 2nd half, winning comfortably 57-29. The Hornets will play in the Savannah Tournament next Monday.
