The Chillicothe Hornets turned in a strong performance at Green Hills Golf Course at the Chillicothe Invitational on Wednesday, finishing 2nd overall with a team score of 315, just 12 strokes behind tournament champion Maryville (303).
Chillicothe’s success came from impressive balance throughout the lineup, with all five varsity golfers scoring between 76 and 82. Leading the way was Jameson Marshall, who shot a 76 to earn a 6th-place finish individually. Close behind was Case Stretch, whose 78 placed him 9th overall, giving the Hornets two golfers inside the top 10.
Rounding out the team scoring were A.J. Warren (80), Keagan Menconi (81), and Nick Radcliff (82). The consistency across the board kept Chillicothe firmly in contention throughout the day and helped them separate from the rest of the field, finishing eight strokes clear of third-place East Buchanan (323).
While Maryville claimed the team title behind a standout medalist round of 67 by Colin Hoffmann, the Hornets proved to be one of the most complete teams in the tournament. The Hornets depth and steady play positioned them near the top from start to finish.
Chillicothe will host Gallatin and Maysville on Friday at the Chillicothe Country Club.
