The Chillicothe Hornets boys soccer team traveled to Mexico Saturday and came away with a 4-1 victory over the Bulldogs.
Chillicothe struck first when Josh Ojeaga found the back of the net to give the Hornets a 1-0 lead. Landon Longo added another goal before halftime as Chillicothe took a 2-0 advantage into the break.
Mexico converted a penalty kick early in the second half to cut the deficit to 2-1, but the Hornets answered. Ojeaga scored his second goal of the match on an assist from Mason Walter to push the lead to 3-1.
Chillicothe then put the match out of reach when Coy Jones set up Walter for the final goal, giving the Hornets the 4-1 victory.
In the JV match, Chillicothe and Mexico played to a 1-1 tie. Aaron Snider scored the Hornets’ goal off an assist from Jesse Hughes.
The victory improves Chillicothe to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in MEC play. The Hornets game scheduled for Tuesday at Maryville has been postponed due to weather.
