Hornets Soccer Secures Shutout Victory

The Chillicothe Hornets boys soccer team played Tuesday night at home against Lafayette, looking for back to back wins on consecutive nights. The Hornets showed no ill effects from their physical match the night before, jumping on the Irish quick. Magnus Maier scored twice in the first half, one from the penalty spot and another directly off a free kick.

Chillicothe added to their lead in the 2nd half, with an own goal from the Irish followed by Josh Ojeaga finding the back of the net, assisted by Maier. Then the Hornets put one more past the keeper curtesy of Aaron Snider to win 5-0. Jesse Hughes had 2 saves in the shutout. Coach Cunningham was pleased with the performance. “Our attack controlled the match creating 10 shots on goal. Our defense was able to level off Lafayette’s attack earning our first shutout of the year.”
