The Chillicothe Hornets basketball team took on Trenton Friday night, looking for their 2nd win of the season.
The Hornets had three key factors that resulted in a decisive victory for Chillicothe. First was their dominant defense, Trenton made just one field goal in the first quarter, helping Chillicothe establish a double digit lead early. Trenton would score just 33 points in total, the fewest Chillicothe has allowed this season.
Secondly, Jaishon White was absolutely unstoppable. Trenton was unable to match his size and physicality. The Hornets outrebounded the Bulldogs by 17 and White had 20 rebounds in the game, 7 on the offensive end. It was a noteworthy night for the senior, Jaishon White finished with 21 points, 20 rebounds and 4 dunks.
The final factor was the outside shooting of freshman Turner Jackson. With the Trenton defense collapsing on White, Jackson shook free and was connecting from distance all night. Jackson made three threes in the first half and four in the 3nd in route to a game high 23 points.
After leading by nine at the break, Chillicothe pulled away to win 54-33. The Hornets are now 2-3 this season and will play at Macon on Tuesday.
