Hornets Strong 4th Quarter Surge Topples Savages

The Chillicothe Hornets faced Savannah in the consolation bracket of the LeBlond Holiday Tournament on Monday. Chillicothe entered 4-5 looking to get back to .500 on the season against a familiar foe.

The first half was a defensive battle. The Hornets managed just two made field goals in the entire half, both by Jaishon White, but after doing damage at the line in the first quarter to open up a 14-6 lead, held on to a narrow 16-15 advantage at the break.

In the 3rd quarter both teams found an offensive rhythm connecting on some outside shots, Savannah took a lead but Chillicothe knotted the score up at 29-29 heading into the 4th.

In the 4th quarter, Burke Beetsma started strong for Chillicothe, Jaishon White reestablished himself in the paint and Turner Jackson sealed the game with stellar free throw shooting. That trio of Hornets all finished in double figures scoring as Chillicothe pulled away for a 52-41 victory.

The Hornets improve to 5-5 on the season and will face Cameron in the consolation championship of the LeBlond Holiday Tournament on Tuesday at 2:30.
