Lady Hornets Blitz Cameron in Conference Victory

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets basketball team hosted Cameron on Tuesday night and wasted no time establishing an early lead. Chillicothe used a 17-0 run to go ahead 22-3 in the first quarter and led 25-5 at the end of the quarter. Chillicothe’s defense force Cameron into 12 first half turnovers and 20 for the game which led to numerous run outs. The Lady Hornets were ahead 35-14 at halftime.

Chillicothe had three players in double figures, with Lyla Beetsma leading the way scoring 17. She was join by Lydia Bonderer and Lexy Smith who also had excellent offensive nights. Chillicothe’s defense held Cameron to just one made field goal in both the 3rd and 4th quarters to win 60-21.

With the win, Chillicothe improves to 20-5 on the season and 2-3 in the MEC. Coach Darren Smith and the Lady Hornets have won at least 20 games in 5 straight season, which ties a program record on a feat that was also accomplished from the 1993-1997 seasons. The Lady Hornets have one final regular season game, Senior Night on Thursday hosting Maryville.
