Lady Hornets Complete Comeback Against Mid-Buchanan

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets traveled to Mid-Buchanan on Thursday night to take on the Lady Dragons. Chillicothe entered the contest with four wins four losses and two ties. While Mid-Buchanan was 8-4-1.

In the first half, Mid-Buchanan had the wind at their back and created multiple chances, hitting the woodwork on three separate occasions before finally breaking through for the first goal of the game. Avani Kendzora crossed a ball off a corner kick that went directly to Camila Mejia, who knocked it home for the first goal.

Chillicothe’s defense tightened up for the remaining 20 minutes of the half to go into halftime down just one goal. In the second half the Lady Hornets had the wind at their back and used it to their advantage.

Just seven minutes into the half the Lady Hornets earned a corner kick and Summer Gatson crossed a low line drive in to Dawson Baxter, who tucked it into the back post tying the game. Then with 15 minutes to go Gatson once again took a corner kick from the opposite side and put in a perfect cross directly into the path of Hayden Hansen. Hansen controlled the ball and blasted a shot into the back of the net to take a two to one lead. With the wind advantage the Lady Hornets prevented Mid-Buchanan from creating any more opportunities and held on for the 2-1 win.

The Lady Hornets improved to over .500 on the season at 5-4-1. Chillicothe will play Bishop Leblond at home on Monday in a Midland Empire Conference game.
