The Chillicothe Lady Hornets volleyball program faced a strong East Buchanan squad Monday night but came away with a straight sets victory for the Lady Hornets.
In varsity action, Chillicothe outlasted the Bulldogs, 3-0 (25-15, 26-24, 25-22). Senior standout Lyla Beetsma powered the Hornets with 21 kills, 23 digs, and 2 aces, while Emerson Staton and Ava Leamer each added 11 kills. Leamer also collected 18 digs and 2 aces, while Staton contributed 11 digs. Setter Carman Woodworth kept the offense rolling with 39 assists.
The junior varsity team battled hard but fell in a tight three-set contest, 1-2 (13-25, 25-15, 22-25), while the C team rolled to a 2-0 victory (25-13, 25-17).
With the varsity win, Chillicothe continued its strong start to the season by handling a tough East Buchanan squad on the road to move to 8-2. The Lady Hornets are back on the road Tuesday night at Carrollton.
