The Chillicothe Lady Hornets softball team in their first home game at Danner Park this season, claimed victory in dramatic fashion Tuesday night, walking off with a 3-2 victory over Mid-Buchanan.
Pitcher Landry Marsh was stellar in the circle, going the distance with an 8-inning complete game. She struck out 7, scattered 4 hits, and did not allow an earned run, keeping the Hornets in position to pull out the late win.
At the plate, Chillicothe’s offense collected 10 hits, led by Kenzie Fleener, who went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Jordan Foster and Ali Probasco each added doubles, while Marsh, Maicee Albrecht, Hayden Hansen, Ellie Acree, and Hope Donoho chipped in hits.
The Hornets scratched across single runs in the second and third innings before the Dragons tied the game 2-2. In the bottom of the eighth, Chillicothe came through in the clutch, plating the winning run to seal the walk-off win.
With the victory, Chillicothe improves to 5-1 and will look to carry momentum into their next matchup, Thursday hosting Lawson.
