The Chillicothe Lady Hornets softball team bounced back after an opening loss Saturday to finish 2-1 at their home tournament, earning fifth place out of eight teams.
The Hornets opened the day against a tough Holden squad and struggled to find offense in a 6-0 loss. Chillicothe responded in game two, rallying past Kirksville for a 7-5 win to get back on track.
In the fifth-place game, the Hornets battled Savannah in a thriller that went to extra innings. Chillicothe pulled out a dramatic 10-9 victory in eight innings, sealing a winning record on the day and momentum heading into the new week.
The 2-1 performance showcased the team’s resilience and ability to respond after adversity, as the Hornets fought through back-to-back nail-biters to finish strong in front of the home crowd.
