The Chillicothe Lady Hornets softball team finished with an even split at the Jeff City Lady Jays Classic, posting a 2-2 record against a strong field.
On Friday, the Hornets opened with a bang, rolling past Capital City 17-3, before falling to Hickman 0-3 in the second matchup of the day.
Saturday brought another pair of games, as Chillicothe shut out Jefferson City 6-0 before closing the tournament with a 0-4 loss to Father Tolton Regional Catholic, one of the top-ranked programs in the state.
The results gave the Hornets two quality wins, including a decisive shutout against the host Jays, while also providing valuable experience against upper-tier opponents in Hickman and Tolton.
