Lady Hornets Hot Start Buries Blue Jays

The Chillicothe opened up their title defense of the Savannah Tournament with a great showing over West Platte. Chillicothe scored 25 unanswered first quarter points to rush out of the gate with a 25-2 advantage.

Chillicothe scored 42 first half point in route to a 30 point halftime advantage with Lydia Bonderer and Lexy Smith each scoring double figures in the first half, including a pair of triples each.

The 2nd half was more of the same from Chillicothe and Coach Darren Smith. The Lady Hornets extended their lead behind senior Lyla Beetsma who had a game high 19 points. She is averaging over 20 points per game as Chillicothe is out to a 2-0 record following their 68-25 victory over the West Platte Blue Jays.

The Lady Hornets will play Maryville in their 2nd game of the Savannah Tournament on Wednesday at 4:00.
