The Chillicothe Lady Hornets traveled to Lathrop Monday night to take on the Lady Mules. Chillicothe entered the game 10-1.
The Lady Hornets pressure helped Chillicothe get out to a nine point lead at the end of the first quarter but Lathrop was able to hang around. Thanks in large part to the strong play of Jacie Kassanavoid who finished tied with a game high 14 points. Chillicothe went into the locker room leading 31-20 and the Lady Hornets maintained a double digit lead for the entirety of the second half.
Chillicothe’s defense was much better in the second half holding Lathrop to just 10 points and the Lady Hornets offensive balance was on full display. Three Lady hornets finished and double figures, Lyla Beetsma, Lydia Bonderer and Lexy Smith helped Chillicothe pulled away for a 51-30 victory.
The Lady Hornets improved to 11-1 on the season and will be back at Lathrop on Wednesday for another game in the Bill Burns shootout, this time against North Platte.
