Lady Hornets Punch Ticket to Final Four with Win Over Odessa

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets are headed to the Class 3 Final Four after defeating Odessa 10-1 on Saturday in the state quarterfinals.

It was a total team win for the Lady Hornets, who delivered strong pitching, timely hitting, and outstanding defense.

Landry Marsh led the way in the circle, throwing a complete game while allowing just one run on four hits, and striking out four.

Offensively, Chillicothe pounded out 11 hits. Ashlynn Daugherty went 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored, and an RBI. Maicee Albrecht added two hits and two RBIs, while Ellie Acree also had a pair of hits and drove in a run. Landry Marsh also collected two hits and scored twice with two RBIs, and Hayden Hansen went 1-for-3 with a team high 3 RBIs.

Defensively, the Lady Hornets came up with clutch plays to keep momentum on their side. In the third inning, Jordan Foster made a diving catch in right field with two outs to prevent runs from scoring. Later, in the sixth inning, Hayden Hansen made a sliding catch in left field—also with two outs—to shut down another Odessa scoring threat.

The Lady Hornets improved to 27-7 on the season and advance to the Class 3 State Semifinals. Chillicothe will face Macon on Friday at noon in Springfield.
