Lady Hornets Push LeBlond to Five Sets in MEC Thriller

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets volleyball team went toe-to-toe with conference rival Bishop LeBlond on Thursday night, battling through five sets before falling just short in a hard-fought 2-3 decision (24-26, 25-16, 25-20, 14-25, 9-15).

Lyla Beetsma turned in a huge performance at the net, finishing with 27 kills and 23 digs, while Emerson Staton added 16 kills, 23 digs, and 5 blocks. Ava Leamer anchored the back row with a team-high 30 digs, along with 5 kills and 3 aces. Running the offense, Carman Woodworth dished out 38 assists.

The Lady Hornets showed grit after dropping the opening set, bouncing back to win the next two before LeBlond rallied in the final two frames to take the match.

Despite the loss, Chillicothe (9-3) proved they could hang with one of the MEC’s top programs in a match filled with momentum swings and standout individual performances.
