The Chillicothe Lady Hornets put together a dominant performance Tuesday night, defeating Penney 15-0 behind a strong offensive showing and a standout showing from Landry Marsh.
Marsh was nearly unstoppable at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two home runs, a triple, three runs scored and five RBIs. She also delivered in the circle, throwing three perfect innings while striking out eight.
Chillicothe’s offense collected 17 hits in the victory, with the entire lineup contributing quality at-bats and helping produce the 15-run outburst.
The Lady Hornets jumped out to a 9-0 lead after the first inning and added one run in the second and five more in the third to complete the shutout.
It was a complete team effort for Chillicothe, with strong hitting throughout the lineup and Marsh leading the way both offensively and in the circle. The Lady Hornets improve to 8-1 and will host Excelsior Springs on Wednesday.
