Lady Hornets Softball Shuts Out Spoofhounds

The Lady Hornets softball team hosted Maryville on Tuesday at Danner Park after a couple of postponements and cancellations had prevented the team from taking the field in a week. The Lady Hornets did not miss a beat however. Chillicothe’s expert pitching and stifling defense shut out their 2nd straight Midland Empire Conference opponent.

In the 7 innings, Landry Marsh struck out 10 batters and the Lady Hornets allowed just 3 hits on 0 errors. Offensively, it took a while for Chillicothe to get the bats going. The score was still tied midway through the 5th when Ali Probasco led off the Lady Hornets at bat with a single, and ultimately scored to open the floodgates for Chillicothe. Tatum Palmer’s triple helped the Lady Hornets score 5 runs in the 5th inning and Chillicothe posted their 3rd conference victory of the season, a 5-0 win over Maryville.

Coach Rucker and the Lady Hornets are 12-2 on the season, and will play at Benton on Thursday.
