Lady Hornets Sweep Benton in MEC Play

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets volleyball team kept their strong season rolling Monday night, sweeping Benton in straight sets, 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-17), in Midland Empire Conference action.

The Lady Hornets’ balanced attack was led by Emerson Staton, who turned in a dominant all-around effort with 18 kills, 15 digs, and 2 blocks. Lyla Beetsma added 17 kills and 12 digs, while Ava Leamer chipped in 8 kills and 13 digs. Running the offense, Carman Woodworth tallied 38 assists.

With the win, Chillicothe improves to 10-3 overall and 1-1 in the MEC, continuing to show its depth and firepower in conference play while controlling each set against a scrappy Benton squad. The Lady Hornets will play at undefeated Lawson tonight in a match airing live on KCHI.
