The Chillicothe Lady Hornets volleyball team opened their 2025 campaign in dominant fashion Tuesday night, sweeping Lathrop in straight sets at home.
Varsity rolled to a 3-0 victory with set scores of 25-16, 25-8, 25-7, showcasing balanced offense and strong defensive play.
Senior outside hitter Lyla Beetsma powered the attack with 17 kills, while Emerson Staton added 14 and Ava Leamer chipped in 11. Setter Carman Woodworth directed the offense efficiently, finishing with an impressive 29 assists.
On the defensive side, Leamer collected a team-high 7 digs, with Beetsma and Staton each adding 6. At the service line, Beetsma and Clara Fisher tallied 4 aces apiece, helping Chillicothe control momentum throughout the match.
The Lady Hornets junior varsity also came away with a convincing win, taking down Lathrop 2-0 (25-19, 25-9).
Chillicothe returns to action Thursday on the road at Trenton, where the C-team will also make its season debut.
