Lady Hornets Volleyball Drops First Match Of Season At St. Pius

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets volleyball team traveled to St. Pius Thursday, 3-0 on the season without having dropped a set yet. However, Coach Beetsma and the team knew it would be their toughest task to date, as St. Pius is the defending MEC champions.

The Lady Hornets put up a fight losing set one by a score of 17-25, then pushed the Warriors to the brink in the 2nd, coming up just short 24-26 before dropping the 3rd set 18-25. Coach Beetsma was proud of her teams performance saying it was the closest the Lady Hornets have come against St. Pius in her time here. Emerson Staton had 11 kills and 5 digs for Chillicothe, Lyla Beetsma finished with 9 kills and 10 digs while Ava Leamer added 6 kills and 8 digs. Setter Carmen Woodworth provided 24 assists in the competitive match.

The Lady Hornets are now 3-1 on the season and 0-1 in the MEC and will host their Chillicothe Invitational Tournament this Saturday.
