The Chillicothe Mudcats walloped the North Missouri Natty’s on Tuesday evening snapping their nine-game losing streak dating back to June 2, and collect their second win of the season.
The scoring got started early for the Mudcats. After a scoreless first inning from both sides, the Mudcats struck for five runs in the top of the second. Jevon Raboy doubled in a pair to get the scoring started. Canon Creason followed that with an RBI single of his own. 3-0 Mudcats at that point. An error later in the inning scored Creason, 4-0, and Taydem Hashimoto capped the inning off with an RBI single scoring Aiden Baerenklau. 5-0 in favor of Chillicothe after two innings.
The Mudcats added on another in the fourth on another Hashimoto base hit scoring Baerenklau. 6-0 Mudcats after four innings in Kirksville.
The Natty’s cut into the Mudcat lead in the bottom of the fifth. An RBI double by Grady Hruska, RBI single from Vincent Dale, and two-RBI knock from Ty Hall allowed the Natty’s to trim the lead to 6-4 after five innings.
The rest of the game was all Chillicothe.
The Mudcats struck for six in the sixth inning. Aiden Baerenklau scored for the third time in the game on a wild pitch to make it 7-4, and Canon Creason scored on a Jordi Ventura bases loaded walk to make it 8-4.
After the Ventura walk, the very next batter, Koby Wagers, crushed a no-doubt grand slam way over the left field wall to make it 12-4, and the Mudcats were in control after six innings.
In the eighth, Chillicothe tallied six more.
Nick Blakeney and JP Gonzalez both swiped home on a couple of defensive miscues from the Natty’s, 14-4 Mudcat with no outs. Later in the inning, Koby Wagers continued his great ball game with a double off the right field fence that scored Jordi Ventura, 15-4 Mudcats. Two batters later, Jevon Raboy also continued his phenomenal game with a two-RBI triple into right-center field, 17-4, and then Raboy finished off the scoring for Chillicothe on Tuesday by racing home on a passed ball. 18-4 Mudcats after the top of the eighth.
The Natty’s were unable to score in the bottom of the inning, and the Chillicothe Mudcats run-ruled the North Missouri Natty’s by the final score of 18-4 in eight innings on Tuesday evening, improving to 2-9 on the season and winning for the first time in two weeks.
Chillicothe is back in Kirksville on Wednesday evening for the rubber match of the three-game series against the Natty’s, first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
