Child Abuse & Neglect Investigations And Arrests

Nine arrests by the Chillicothe Police Department on Tuesday were in connection with investigations of Child Abuse and Neglect.  Police Chief John Maples explains the conditions they see in these types of investigations.

Dealing with sanitary conditions in the home or excessive physical treatment of the child.

Chief Maples says the Detectives and Officers are investigating these types of cases regularly, working with the children’s division and other agencies.  He says these investigations happened to conclude about the same time.

The cases are usually cleared at different times.

Maples says the children involved in these cases had been removed from the homes prior to the arrests.

Chief Maples says these cases are mentally taxing and take a toll on the detectives and officers investigating.  He says the Department works with the officers to assist them in dealing with the circumstances of the investigations.
