Lady Hornets Finish Fifth at Districts, Bonderer Qualifies for State

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets finished fifth at the Class 2 District 4 girls golf tournament Thursday, at Hidden Valley Golf Course in Lawson, with Libbie Bonderer earning an individual berth in the state tournament.

Chillicothe posted a team score of 374 on the par-72 course, finishing fifth among 11 schools. Maryville won the district team championship with a 348, followed by Savannah at 350 and Notre Dame de Sion at 358. Summit Christian Academy placed fourth with a 370, while Chillicothe finished just four strokes behind.

Bonderer led the Lady Hornets with an 89, placing 11th individually. Her finish in the top 13 earned her qualification for the state tournament. Bonderer was also recognized with All-District honors.

Three other Chillicothe golfers finished tied for 24th. Emerson Brobst, Harper Horsman and Ava Lance each carded a 95. Piper Guthrie rounded out the Hornets’ lineup with a 107, tying for 35th.

Richmond’s Karoline Dooley won the individual district title with a 74. Clinton’s Aliza Barnes finished second at 75, and Maryville’s Avonlea Elise Mitchell placed third with a 77. Notre Dame de Sion’s Claire Henke took fourth with a 79, while Savannah’s Zaylin Alexandria Vega finished fifth at 82.
