Two Area Residents Injured In Crashes

Accidents in Clay and Chariton counties left area residents with minor and moderate injuries Tuesday.

State Troopers report a two-vehicle crash in Clay County occurred at about 8:55 am on Interstate 35 as southbound traffic slowed for congestion.  State Troopers report a 69-year-old Mooresville man slowed and was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by a 54-year-old Kearney woman.  The Kearney woman and a passenger in the other vehicle, a 64-year-old Mooresville woman, were both taken to Liberty Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

At about 7:50 pm in Chariton County, Troopers investigated a single-vehicle crash on Route PP near Salisbury.  A 16-year-old Salisbury boy was eastbound in his pick-up and ignored a road closed sign and struck the barricades and a jersey barrier.  He had moderate injuries and was taken to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.  He was not wearing a safety belt.
