Chillicothe Girls Win Battle of the Hornets

The outside shooting was hot for the Chillicothe Lady Hornets basketball team in a 61-51 win over Penney High of Hamilton.
Unofficially, Chillicothe shot 11 of 20 from behind the arc and 10 of 21 from inside the arc in the season opening game. Chillicothe led the entire game except for two brief ties in the first quarter.
Hornets Varsity Girls Basketball Coach Darren Smith said his team had a good game against a high quality opponent.

Chillicothe was led by Hunter Keithley with 16 points, Jessica Reeter with 14, Essie Hicks with 11, Jordan Hibner with 9, Lucy Reeter with 5, Selby Miller and Haley Kidd each with 3 points and playing time for Ellie Barnett, Brooke Horton and Ella Leamer.
Penney of Hamilton, which returns everyone from last season, was led by Nora Ford with 16, Graycen Prothero  with 11 and Somers Finch with 10. Ali Trosper had 3, Brighton Swindler and Atie Allsup with 2 each and playing time for Julia Kanoy.
