CMS Girls Win Hornets Hoops Tourney, Boys 2nd

The Chillicothe 8th Grade Girls Basketball team won their own Hornets Hoops two day tournament.
After a win Friday, the CMS Girls won both games on Saturday. They beat Cameron 46-24 and Marshall 26-9. In the two games combined, they were led by Jolie Bonderer with 24 points, Madison Albaugh 12, Kayanna Cranmer 11, Maci Johnson 7, Emily Schreiner 6, Izzy Garr 4, Rylee Washburn 3 and Hadley Beemer with 2.
Receiving playing time were Halie Gault, Rhyan Kincaid and Emily Shipers, according to coach Rachel Wheeler. The girls finished their season with a 13-1 record.
The Hornets Boys 8th grade team picked up two wins on Saturday, beating Cameron 39-17 thanks to Milo Costner with 9, Jackson Trout 8, Hagan Atchison 7, Mason Meservey 6, Quenten Midgyett and Andrew Hecker with 5 and Aerion Hudson with 1.
Chillicothe beat Bueker of Marshall 36-25 to avenge a loss earlier in the season.
Atchison had 16 points, Trout with 11, Costner 4, Hecker 3 and Jadon Collins with 2. Kirksville won the tournament with a 30 record.
