Alcohol Compliance Checks

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department and the Midland Empire Alcohol Task Force conducted alcohol compliance checks at area businesses last Friday.  Sheriff Steve Cox says most businesses did very well, but two individuals were cited for selling to a person under the age of 21.

A 46-year-old Utica resident was cited in the area of Business 36 and Washington Street and a 19-year-old Chillicothe resident was cited in the 1200 block of Washington.  Both were for Supplying Liquor to a Minor.

Cox says at both locations, the person cited did not ask for identification.

He says the goal of the Sheriff’s office is to educate people on the legal requirements.  They hope to offer training with the task force and Liquor Control to help the businesses and employees not provide alcohol to minors.  The overtime for the LCSO on this project is paid for through a grant and there was no cost to the county.
