Donations Sought For Two 55 & GO Programs

Livingston County’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program, known as 55 & Go, is looking for donations for two programs, “I Will Donate A Good Winter Coat” and the Joy Toy Project.  55 & Go Director Patty Mefford says both are important programs in our community.

Mefford says “I Will Donate A Good Winter Coat” allows area residents to help others with a coat to stay warm.

Coats of all sizes are needed.  Coats for boys, girls, men and women.  Last year, 55 & Go gave out 118 coats to those in need.

The annual Joy Toy Project is also underway and the are in the big push part of their season.  Mefford says last year 94 families were helped and there were 394 children that received toys for the Christmas holiday.  She says they accept donations year-round.

Toys should be clean and in good shape, games should have all the parts and yes, they will accept stuffed animals.  Cash donations are also welcome.

Any donations for Joy Toy or the “I Will Donate A Good Winter Coat” can be dropped at the 55 & Go office at 440 Locust Street.  The center hours are from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm weekdays and 10:00 to 1:00 on Saturdays.  Call 646-0010 if you have any questions.
