The Chillicothe Hornets Boys Soccer team won their 3rd district championship in the program’s 13 years history with a 4-2 victory over Savannah Thursday night.
The Hornets scored early, with a Mason Baxter score off a Drake Cosgrove assist in the third minute.
Savannah would respond with goals in the 13th and 32nd minute to lead the Hornets 2-1 at inter mission.
Baxter continued his scoring onslaught in the second half with a goal in the 44th minute off a Ben Cueni-Smith assist. Cosgrove scored in the 57th minute off a Wyatt Brandsgaard assist.
Baxter completed his hat trick on the night in the 66th minute off another Cosgrove assist for the final 4-2 win.
Keeper Jaxon Albertson had three saves on goal.
The Hornets hit the road Tuesday in the first round of the state tournament. They play at conference foe St Pius X on Tuesday.
Pius beat Chillicothe in Kansas Cit 3-1 on October 10th.
