The next election for the local area is less than a month away. Area voters will head to the polls April 7th for the Municipal Elections, which include, school boards, some town councils and issues and proposals placed on the ballot school districts and cities.
In the April 7th election, what is on the ballot will depend on where you live.
In the Chillicothe R-II School District, you will find four candidates for the school board. You will be asked to vote for three of them. The candidates include Brice Walker, Lauren Horsman, Kelly Sykes and Kathy Gilliland.
There will also be a “Question” on that ballot, asking voters:
“Shall the Board of Education of Chillicothe R-II School District, Livingston County, Missouri be authorized (1) beginning in 2020, to increase the operating tax levy for school operating purposes by sixty-eight cents ($0.68) per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation, and (2) beginning in 2023, to increase the operating tax levy for school operating purposes by another twelve cents ($0.12) per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation, which will replace an operating tax levy in the same amount that will expire by its terms in 2023.
