MDC To Require Non-Resident Migratory Bird Permit

Hunters who live outside of Missouri will need a Non-Resident Migratory Bird Permit beginning January 1st.  The Missouri Conservation Commission approved the new permit for non-residents to hunt waterfowl, doves, snipe, woodcock, and rails.  The new Non-Resident Migratory Bird Permit will cost $60.

If a non-resident has already purchased a migratory bird hunting permit before January 1st, that permit will remain valid through the end of the season, and no additional permit is needed for that season.   Those without the permit before January 1st will need to purchase the new Non-Resident Migratory Bird Permit to cover the period from January 1st to February 6th.

Starting with the 2026–2027 migratory-bird hunting season, all non-residents will need the new non-resident migratory bird permit.

The MDC says the additional revenue from permit sales will help it maintain and improve its nationally recognized programs and services for hunters, anglers, wildlife watchers, and others.
