Anthony Cosmo Sprofera, age 73, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, August 11th, 2026, at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Missouri. He was born the son of Frank and Lucille (Bromell) Sprofera on December 4, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri.
Anthony was a proud graduate of North East High School in Kansas City and furthered his education at Maple Woods Community College. He was united in marriage to Elnora Carr on March 7, 1978 in Kansas City, Missouri. He dedicated many years of his professional life to the Missouri Department of Corrections in Chillicothe, where he worked as a Corrections Officer from 2005 to 2020. His passion for food extended beyond his career, as he also owned and operated Tony’s Deli in Kingston, Missouri, for five years before settling in Chillicothe.
A veteran of the United States Army, Anthony served his country with honor and pride. Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, he was a man of many talents and interests. An avid Lego builder and an accomplished artist, Anthony found joy in drawing and painting, capturing the beauty of landscapes and the essence of portraits. His love for music, especially Classic Rock, was well-known among his family and friends. Anthony was truly a “Jack of all trades,” with an innate ability to tackle any challenge that came his way. He was also a loving pet owner to his dog, Baby Girl, and his cat, Snoopy, and grand-puppy, Buddy.
Anthony is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Elnora (Nora) Sprofera, and his son, Anthony M. Sprofera, and his wife Crystal, all of Chillicothe, Missouri. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly. Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lucille Sprofera, his son Brandon Sprofera, his brothers Frank and Rocky Sprofera, and his sister Candy Sprofera.
Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe, Missouri on Monday, August 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Monday, August 17, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. until service time of 11:00 a.m. The visitor register will be available to sign at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Packard Cemetery, Cameron, Missouri.
